Netgear router login
Netgear’s own shortcut is routerlogin.net. It only resolves while you are connected to that Netgear. The classic factory pair is the username admin and the password password, which is easy to mistype as your Wi-Fi key.

Join the Netgear network
The default Wi-Fi name often starts with NETGEAR or the model, such as Nighthawk. Orbi satellites are not a second admin page; sign in on the main router.

Open routerlogin.net
Type routerlogin.net in the address bar. If the name fails, use 192.168.1.1. Some units, especially behind another gateway, answer on 192.168.0.1.

Enter admin and password
Username admin. Password password, in lowercase. Newer Nighthawk labels print a unique admin password. Prefer the label if the classic pair fails once.
What the login box looks like
password is the factory word
Type the eight letters p-a-s-s-w-o-r-d. It is not a reminder to use your own password. If the router has ever completed setup, that word is already retired.
Netgear will not open
routerlogin.net searches the web
The browser treated it as a query. Delete the search and submit the name from the address bar while Wi-Fi is connected to the Netgear.
The page loads, then asks for a recovery question
Someone finished the first-run wizard. The factory word password no longer applies. Use the password created then, or reset the router.
Two routers are in the house
An ISP modem and a Netgear in router mode can hide each other. If 192.168.1.1 opens the modem, check the Netgear sticker for a different address, or look up the gateway on a device joined to the Netgear Wi-Fi. Steps: find your router IP.
