ASUS router login

ASUS keeps the hostname router.asus.com across most firmware. The IP behind it changed: older RT models use 192.168.1.1, while many AX and ExpertWiFi units ship as 192.168.50.1 so they can sit behind a modem that already took 192.168.1.1.

How to log in to ASUS

    Connect to the ASUS Wi-Fi

    The default name often includes ASUS or the model, for example ASUS_XX. Ethernet works too.

    Open router.asus.com

    Type that exact name in the address bar. If it does not resolve, try 192.168.1.1 and then 192.168.50.1.

    Sign in as admin

    Both fields start as admin. Current firmware forces a new password before it shows the dashboard. After that change, admin will not get you back in.

First login is a password change

Treat the first successful admin / admin visit as incomplete until ASUS asks for a new password. That new password is the only one that will work next time. There is no sticker override on most RT models.

ASUS will not open

router.asus.com shows a certificate warning

The router presents its own certificate. On your own network you can continue. If the warning appears on a different network, stop. You are not talking to your ASUS.

192.168.1.1 opens a different brand

The modem or another router owns that address. The ASUS has moved, usually to 192.168.50.1. Confirm with the gateway on a device joined to the ASUS Wi-Fi.

AiMesh node has no login

Nodes are managed from the main router. Resetting a node alone does not change the admin password of the mesh.

So the LAN does not collide with a modem already using 192.168.1.1. Both addresses are covered: 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.50.1.
