192.168.50.1 Login

ASUS moved many AX and ExpertWiFi routers from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.50.1. The hostname did not move: router.asus.com still finds the router from its own Wi-Fi. The factory login is still admin / admin, and it is replaced on first use.

    router.asus.com avoids the question of .1.1 versus .50.1. If the name fails, type 192.168.50.1, then 192.168.1.1. Brand page: ASUS.

    Complete the forced password change

    The dashboard does not appear until admin is replaced. That new password is the one you need tomorrow. The word admin will not be accepted again.

    Nodes do not have a second copy of 192.168.50.1. If a node fails to join, reset the node, not the main admin password.

These are common factory values published for first-time setup of equipment you own. An ISP, installer, or previous owner may have changed them. After you get in, set your own admin password.

Older RT routers remain on 192.168.1.1. Newer ones ship on 192.168.50.1. The sticker or the gateway reading tells you which unit you have. The login habit, admin then a password you choose, is the same.

The modem or an older router still owns it. The ASUS you just bought is on 192.168.50.1. Read the gateway on the ASUS SSID.

The router’s own certificate causes it. Continue on your LAN. Do not continue if you are on public Wi-Fi and did not mean to open a local admin page.
